Handing over work to a colleague

I'm moving off to a new role at the end of the week. I've had a colleague training to take over my role since the start of May. He's good techand keen but his comprehension is a bit poor as are his written skills (english is not his first language).
I wrote several documents to cover the major aspects of my role but even though he says he says he understands he asks me the same question multiple times. I am beginning to think he has not actually read anything.
He sends me several emails looking for approval. I am getting fed up and replying with comments like 'whatever you think is best' and 'what do you feel is the best answer?'.
Is there a nice way to cut the apron strings? I cannot do my old role and the new one. He had a full month of daily one hour training sessions from me as well as a lot of shadowing.

Should state he has been transitioning since May and during June-July for 4 weeks i trained him daily for bouts of 2 hours at a time.

I think the cut off point will be next week! You can just say you are no longer in that role, refer to written documentation and hide!

Speak to your line manager, explain the training / shadowing / handover you have supported him with, state that you think he's leaning on you a bit too much at this stage (don't speculate on reasons, just state the facts), and suggest that after this week he should route any queries to you through his line manager.

Thanks folks, I will cut him off and refer him through management!
