I was offered a job whilst i was not pregnant but in between there offer and confirming a start date i have fallen pregnant, im worried about telling my new employer its keeping me awake at night which is no good for me or my baby! should i wait and speak to my manager once i have started or ring before i start and make them aware. I don't start for another 4 weeks and by then ill be 11 weeks and soon be looking pregnant and i show around 12 weeks with my other child. any advise??

snap I accepted a job (covering a maternity leave) on my first day I had to go to my boss a d explain I was pregnant. I was the 3rd in a week ! Thankfully she found the funny side ! There was no problem, legally there is nothing they can do but it's so embarrassing!

I would wait until you start, and if you're not showing at that point then I'd wait a few weeks so they get to know you as 'happywithabump' before you become 'the pregnant new girl'.

For what it's worth, I have waited until I thought I looked so pregnant no one could fail to notice before I told my work. Both times they hadn't noticed and honestly couldn't tell even when they were aware. So don't rush to tell them just because you've noticed you're slightly thicker round the middle; ask a friend for an honest opinion :)

Good luck with the new job :)

thank you for your replys, my job is working with ex offenders who are on a rehabilitation programme and most of the young people are vulnerable and have been or dependant on drugs and alcohol, im pretty sure that wont be having direct one on one contact with them until i have been there a while anyway, but i am worried that they really should carry out a risk assessment which they can only do if they no my situation. I may get my foot in the door and then approach it after a couple of weeks.

I did this.. Just told them as ivf - wasn't sure if it would work or not! But couldn't not go through it when I finally came top of the list. It happens all the time and not as if it's ideal for you as you will only be eligible for statutory. Congrats by the way! It'll work out ....
