How will i ever manage to find another decent PT job

I have been very lucky to have been in my current job ( which until recently I enjoyed) for 15 years, the last 7 of which working PT. I have received a number of promotions, 2 of which have been since I've worked PT. I am now fairly senior with a lot of responsibility ( office/project mgr type role).

Anyway, over the past 12 months, work has got more and more shit. Restructures, crap senior managers, lack of resources, and increased workload have made the workplace a horrible place to be. I have been very stressed with it all, and am starting to hate going in every day.

I've started looking for other jobs, but there is NOTHING decent on a PT basis. Its all zero hours minimum wage or commission only crappy jobs. Is it totally impossible to get a decent pt job? I really don't want to go ft, but can't see how I am going to stand a chance even finding a decent pt job, never mind actually getting one

What industry are ypu in and do you want to stay in it?

Public sector. I would prefer to stay in public sector if possible.

The lack of good pt jobs is depressing. I attended a book launch talk about raising daughters. The author mentioned that Timewise Jobs (the spin off of Women Like Us, social enterprise that helps wome into employment) has 44 000 women registered for their job updates and c18 jobs on average on offer.

Don't the PS always offer job share? Could that be an option?

Not sure if this is how it works in the PS but could you network with/approach other senior ppl to see what is out there?

Am sure there will be a stringent recruitment process but always good to have a recommendation etc.

Apply for jobs you like and ask during the process about the possibility of part time.

Easier to get the job first then negotiate part time later. Most public sector have flexible working policies. I was part time but got a new job this year and it is full time. I plan to do it for 12 months then ask to cut or compress hours so I get more time with the children.

They are out there, but you need to network your arse off, is third sector an option, any contractors you work closely with? Any large projects that you can be involved in externally?

Thanks for the advice. Think networking and reaching out to existing contacts may be the answer.
