Hi, I have just got a new job and am due to start on Jan 2nd.

I wasn't asked at interview about any dates I might need off, and it has only just occurred to me that I will need 2 days off at the very end if jan to go to visit family abroad.

I will obviously call them ASAP on Monday to discuss it, but do you think it's likely they will honour this.

By the way, I am not teaching staff, but I will only be working term-time

Any advice much appreciated

IMO as you are non-teaching they will probably honour it (re-advertising/interviewing is expensive and they will want to keep you at this point). However, be aware you will have given yourself a bit of a hurdle to jump over- it will be down to you once you start to prove that this is a one off and you aren't a habitual slacker!

just phone the head tomorrow and mention you have pre booked holiday and you assume they will honour them, it will be unpaid, its no big deal.
