They say she is likely to pass away this night. I would be there, if my husband was home to stay with the kids (14 and 11). But as it is nothing I can do, I have asked they dont call me.
It has been so sudden, although, really it isn't. It has been heading this way for a while, but a slow decline. Two weeks ago she was smiling and chatting somewhat. At least she was responsive. Today she is laying, her mouth and face has sunken in in that special way. Erratic breathing, but peaceful. My dad saw her friday, she was pretty much like normal, a bit more introvert, but sitting up, and still responding to sweet talk and his old nicknames for her.
I took the kids to say good bye. This will be hard. She has had dementia for half of my youngest sons life. But my oldest still remembers a loving and vibrant gran.
