Can anyone help me with this please?
My mother has dementia, is in a care home (since October 2016) and has a sore throat and cough. I've just had a call from them, asking if I can please drive to the home, bringing throat sweets and paracetamol. I explained I'm at work, can't up and leave and why on earth can they not give it to her?
The home claims they can't give any OTC medication without a doctor's prescription. I've googled and guidance seems to indicate that this is total rubbish and that they can give simple OTC medication without the need for a GP's prescription. I don't have POA for health, only for financial affairs, so I don't see why I would be able to give it to her any more than they can?
Any advice please? Am so cross.
