School meeting nerves

I was chosen to go onto the management comittee of my dd pre school and was asked a few weeks ago to go to a meeting. I assumed it would be an informal meeting with just the pre schoool staff - when in fact it is in the main school with what I assume will be the other senior staff, governers etc. I am really nervous - don't want to look a mumsy fool by saying something daft or saying nothing at all. What normally goes on at these meetings?

This is so ridiculous as before dd was born I was a teacher and now I am going all weak at the knees at the thought of going into school!

ps it starts at eight

at our nursery management cttee meetings we have a formal agenda but the tone is pretty informal (cups of tea all round, asking how each other's kids are) and we just introduce ourselves if there's anyone new and then get on with the discussion/decision making. this can range from smartening up the garden to setting the entire budget. i imagine they won't offload lots onto a newbie, you should be fine. also don't volunteer to do anything right at the beginning until you have sussed out what's involved. hth

Thankyou, am feeling riduculous for being nervous as I have to go to meetings all the time and many of the people there will know me anyway as we go to the church attached to the school.

Hvae taken the hint about ot volunteering

you'll be fine. i've been doing the mc thing for 3 years now and feel quite exhausted by it all but have been doing too much at work/home/nursery of late so may ease off a bit..they need new blood like you!
