Nursery teachers - respect is due!

Yesterday I went to ds's nursery to give a little 'class' on Hannukah: telling them the story, singing songs, lighting candles, eating goodies and so on, about 40minutes total with one of the teachers helping me.

I didn't know that keeping 8 relatively well-behaved 3-5 year-olds interested and involved could be such hard work, and I now have a heck of a lot more respect for the job of a nursery teacher!

We have been so lucky to find this nursery, because the staff are wonderful and so caring. They may not be particularly well-educated, but what they've got doesn't come from book-learning.

I'll say it again - nursery teachers are wonderful!

its really nice that you did that - I wish our son's nursery involved parents a bit more....

Hear hear! I think that every time I go and pick ds up from his nursery - there's no way I could do that job for all my supposed 'education'.

Our preschool is great. DD and ds both loved it and I cant speak highly enough of them. DS has recently started school and has had all sorts of problems there that i have discussed on other threads. The preschool is at the end of my road and a couple of times when i have been upset because of what is happening at school I have gone in to talk to them and they have been fantastic - taking time to talk to me, make me tea and offer advice. I haven't even got any children there anymore and yet I still feel they have offered me and ds more support in these last few weeks than his school have.
