Been in to my last Y7 lesson already....

Didn't come into last lesson and on a non contact session now :)

I have 3 Y7 classes today - a top set, a middle set and a lower ability group. They choose the first half of the LA group to come in to! To be fair to the kids they did work well and tried hard, but their concentration span is so short, and they just can't sit still without fidgeting at all. Hopefully inspector has read all the paperwork I gave hinm though and realised what type of group it was and took this into account. I think that, for that geroup, the lesson was pretty good - they all did what was asked for them, work was challenging for their needs/ability range, and they were focused most of the time. I did my stuff too - lesson plans, structured tasks, etc.

So, hoping that's it now, but do have a Y10 class later they may choose to visit.

How's it going Hulababy? Did the inspector not give you any feedback? I thought they had to. Good luck with the rest of it.

HMI inspectors don't give feedback to individual teachers.

Thanks :)

I just had the one inspection - for about 20 minutes of a 50 minute lesson. Not sure how much they can get from that TBH. They saw me do the important bits I think and to be fair the kids were pretty good and did learn! So long as inspector read my planning and pre-assessment sheets and realised that this was a class of children, all with some form of SEN, then I am, sure it was good :)

I'd missed the fact that it was HMI. Ofsted have to give verbal feedback to individual teachers and to be honest, our last HMI did a bit as well, tho' not to the extent of Ofsted. You can usually tell a bit as they're generally not as po-faced as they used to be about 10 years ago.
Glad you feel positive about it Hulababy and thanks for the thumbs up for my dd on the other thread!
