Holborn/Bloomsbury primary schools

Does anyone know much about them?

I live closest to St George's and Argyle. St George's appears much nicer (small, quiet area, "outstanding" Ofsted report), but we are not religious and other (non religious) parents we know are attending church in advance in order to get places. Argyle looks dark and foreboding and large, but is secular so probably easier to get a place at. Does anyone have insider knowledge or experience of either, or any insights as to admissions etc.?

About 6-7 years ago I helped out at a children's play group at Coram's Fields that included a lot of girls from Argyle. They were a bit of a mixed bunch but what really stood out for me was that they were terrible at following adult instruction and some of them (8-9 yo, native Englsih speakers) would say things like "I catched it".

Goodness! Maybe that was just that bunch though. I don't know enough people locally to ask - it seems St George's is more the white middle class school and Argyle is apparently about 90% children of Bangladeshi origin, so maybe many have English as a second language. I would rather go somewhere with a good mix of people but it seems quite divided. Other schools are a bit further away (we are about equal distance form Argyle and St George's) so I worry we would not have a chance of getting in and have quite a long walk!

My very bright Coram Fields attending child says Catched it....really is not an issue. Read Chomsky. It is called generative grammar. How snobby!

no not really. I am pretty sure my children will end up as professors like me one day - but they certainly will not be snobs.

Many years since I studied any linguistics...any useful insights about local primary schools, anyone?
