My 6 year old daughter is playing the computer all day long, and I really want to buy her a present that she will like. Can anyone recommend on a nice educational computer game for her? Maybe something a little bit more contributing than the things she usually plays?

There's a great educational computer games package, which has a variety of games and refers to your child by his own name...I'll try to recall how we've bought it, and give you the link.

Here's the great educational games package that speaks to your child using his own name! I've bought it and it's really amazing. Just search "Dolphy Games" on Google and you'll find it easily. There's a link there for purchasing it too.

Thank you Sandra! I've bought it and it's really great! My daughter doesn't stop playing it, and you should see the smile on her face when the computer "speaks" to her using her own name.

My children used to love the Zoombinis games. They teach logical thinking & problem solving. I suppose they are a bit old fashioned now compared to fast moving games of today, but they are cleverly written as there are no instructions on how to proceed to the next level - you have to work it out yourself.

If she is playing on the computer 'all day long' I would say that turning off the computer and buying her a book or turfing her outside would be the best educational present you could buy her.

it's actually quite hard to turn the computer off, take a child who likes video games out and make them enjoy other things like outdoor activities or books. we have found that combining what is "fun" for our daughter with what is "good" in our opinion is the best mix actually. we use educational video games and try to prove that books and sports are cool and fun on our own example, that's probably the only way to do it)

Roblox is NOT appropriate for a 6 year old.

OP my 6yo DS is getting a Kano for Christmas. Would your DD like to learn to code? She might like Scratch.
