Made snowflakes today using either 14cm square of paper which they cut or a square of card smae size which they decorated with star pattern using silver paper, stars bits of doilies etc. Mounted on big pieces of black paper in an alternating sequence they look really lovely.
snow storm scenes in jars, snow and ice sculptures out of junk, painitng based on famous wintery scenes.
loads of lovely poems about winter- I like that one
Today I'm like a parcel
Wrapped up from head to toe
Protected from the icy winds,
the rain, the sleet and snow.

Can't remember the rest but there are lots of nice texts to start you off.Make some winter words and hang them on a tree.
Good luck

Have a look here , here and here for some ideas....

You could find out about hibernating animals, or make bird feeders (make a bird cake with seeds and fat by making a hole in a yoghurt pot, thread through some string - fasten the other end to a twig- pour in mixture and leave to set. )
You could focus on seasonal foods and make root vegetable soup or ginger biscuits. Can't get my brain into gear for anything else but HTH

Also remember that Chinese new year is coming up and you can have lots of fun making animal masks; dragons etc. A good site for teachers/parents is www.underfives.co.uk or www.underfives.com

There are also ideas on winter activities and planning examples. If you haven't signed up for the free newsletter, I'd recommend it as there is lots of education related news/ideas such as the national chatterbox week coming up soon.

That forum is for under fives. There is another organisation called foundation stage where you get resources but you need to subscribe to.

Percy the Park keeper - One Snowy night lends itself to role play/drama - could make roleplay area into Percys hut. Or 'build' an igloo. Lots of opportunity for discussion about keeping warm/clothes etc.
You havent said how old your class are. For older ones science experiments to test different materials and their insulating properties.

Make class nonfiction books or factfiles about animals from the cold places, animals that hibernate etc.

Mixing shades of blue - use in patterns of concentric circles, check pattern. or paint in stripes across a sheet of paper, make penguins in collage to stick on the top.

Winter clothes - boot/shoe prints in different colours

Science - insulation investigation

Snow scenes - black paper, with pictures done in white chalk or paint
