Books - Barrington Stoke publishers

DD (8yo but reading age much higher) has had a book this weekend published by this publisher

Their website says they do books for reluctant readers but I was impressed by the wide range of vocab used and how it's used. The story (Young Monsters) itself was very simple and quite short (I've just read in about 15 mins) but there's something quite special about the way it's written. I certainly think it would help children with their creative writing.

Oh and they offer the chance to be a 'consultant' and comment on the manuscripts of books they publish. DD has already emailed them!

I love Barrington Stoke books - think the quality of writing is amazing. How did she manage to get a story published by them? What an achievement!

ROFL!! Just shows I should read what I'm posting before I do.

What I meant was...

DD (8yo but reading age much higher) has had as her reading book this weekend, 'Young Monsters' published by this publisher/Barrington Stoke.

Does that make more sense?

On first glance I was shocked she'd chosen it because she it a v fluent reader but when I took the time to sit down and look at it properly, I thought it was brilliant.

Oh, sorry However, good to find someone else who loves their books - an astonishing amount of work goes into them, with all the consultancy etc, and looks like the authors are committed to the cause of producing children's books which overcome barriers to reading.
