Anyone with children learning Latin, have a look at this...

No idea if anyone learns Latin these days (possibly I am the only sad case out here...) but if anyone does use and/or is learning Latin, this website is brilliant. It's not just a Latin dictionary (though it links to the classic Latin dictionary (Lewis and Short); the beauty of it is that even if you don't have the dictionary form of a word (e.g. if you only have the 2nd person plural imperfect subjunctive of a verb, or the ablative plural of a noun) it will analyse it for you and tell you which dictionary form you need to look up and what grammatical form it might be. It is really fab (... if you're into this sort of thing )

Budding classicists, enjoy...

Thanks Ellbell. My dss(12 and 10) are learning Latin; years ago it was my favourite subject. My 12yo recently wanted to know the difference between itaque and igitur. I might actually be able to help now ! (His teacher couldn't).

I think it is the only way to learn to spell and excell at Christmas boardgames so thank you very much for the link.
Was going to post about Latin this week. Anyone teaching Minimus? And if your kids learn, how qualified is the teacher? Am currently tossing up between starting the children off at home and volunteering to do a club. Am qualified at primary and secondary level btw, but certainly not Latin. Would really appreciate feedback.

Heard about Minimus on the radio and it sounded great. I'm not a Latin teacher, though - I just use it in my own line of work. I did think that I might get hold of the Minimus books later and teach my kids a bit myself, just for fun. They are (and are likely to remain) in the state system, so are unlikely to be taught Latin at school). They are only 5 and 3 now, though, so a bit young for it! Let me know how you get on.

Thanks Ellbell, v. useful, have added to faves. My ds does Latin - we chose his (state) grammar school partly because they are one of the v few to offer Latin. Others locally are closing down Latin classes as teachers retire In the first lesson, the teacher said to the kids that their parents had probably hated Latin, but ds had been told by both his parents that Latin was fab
