I bought bunk beds from ebay recently and my husband hired a van and went and collected them last night. It now turns out that there is a bolt missing and the bases of each bed are not in very good condition (coming away slightly). They were described as in reasonable condition but I'm not really very happy about them - obviously they are now in our house and fully assembled so I'm guessing there's not much I can do but would you leave negative feedback for the seller or contact him and say you were unhappy?

Did you pay very much?

Tbh, reasonable isn't a word I'd be queueing up to part with money for...it usually means they can be used but aren't particularly great.

Ebay takes some getting used to...! I'd not leave negative personally, can you link us to a listing, so we can tell you what sort of feedback would be appropriate?

Sorry you're not happy with them.

Agree that they do sound in reasonable rather than in good condition.

thanks NF - I seem to be useless at ebay, buying duff stuff and not making much when I sell stuff either! I paid £165.50 which is ok as it came with mattresses (quite old) and drawers underneath which will be useful.

Here is the listing - think I should have been put off by the reply to questions other people posted but ended up bidding in a hurry as had people over at the time!

oh my god how much? You could have bought brand new ones for that!
I don't think you can leave a negative as such but maybe put in the comments that you feel are less than reasonable condition

Oh they look great - quality seems nice but if they're over ten years old I'd expect them to be in not quite tiptop condition.

Hmm. Well seller sounds a bit tight lipped and didn't mention the bolt but I think that would come under the description of 'reasonable'.

I'd probably leave a blunt feedback saying 'as described, reasonable condition with few bits missing' or similar with either a positive (if I considered theyw ere nice people, who tried to be honest - did your DH say they were OK?) or a neurtal if they had caused any stress, ie been rude or unfriendly.

You don't have to leave feedback at all - sometimes this gives the right message iyswim! You don't need to increase their ratings if you're not happy, but leaving a neutral isn't necessary either.

Yes QOD I agree quite dear for beds in this cond but then if you've bid to that price, so have others and it's your duty to pay it really.

If it had been buy it now, I'd have argued more for a discount based on the things you've mentioned, but the price was led by the bidders in this instance.

I'd guess beds like this would be a LOT new.

(we have second hand Heals bunks...very solid and our parents bought them s/h when we were about 5&7. My children use them now - but there are several bolts missing!!!)

Yes think maybe i'm being a bit fussy, kind of wished I'd splashed out the extra £100 and bought them new! Hey ho though as least I've saved myself £100 which we really need right now. Thanks for taking the time and looking for me and giving advice, I think I'll not bother to leave feedback and like you say that's a message in itself!

No worries it's horrible when you're disappointed with something, I know the feeling well...
