Hey,
I won a footmuff last week on ebay. Today i received a beaded necklace in the post. Signed for delivery.
I didn't know where it came from though because i hadn't bought any necklace so i emailed the footmuff seller and it turned out to be her.
She said that she is making a complaint because 15 of her items went to the wrong addresses.
After i pointed out that the address was hand written on the box, so it was no ones mistake but hers and there would be no one to complain to, she offered me a refund of 2.50 to send the beads back to her. ( I paid 13 for the footmuff)
I said that was fine, i'd send them back, to which she replied, she would have to find out where my item is, she doesn't know who she posted it out to.
What should i do? Should i wait and see if i get it? I needed it for a trip at the weekend, but we are not leaving till Fri so it might arrive..Or should she refund me before i send the beads back?

two isues here:

  1. the footmuff
given that she can't guarantee you a delivery date for this she should give you a full refund (including postage) immediately.

  2. Beads
You never asked for these. If she wants them back she needs to send you the money to cover the return postage.

I'd wait for the refund before sending anything back to her.

what does her previous feedback say?

She has 100% feedback - but only 17 in total.
She emailed me back saying she has two receipts for my address, and gave me a tracking number. When i looked on the RM website the number she gave me (as my item) has been signed for somewhere else with a completely different postcode from mines.

What a shambles!

Hold firm that you want a refund - you can't be expected to carry on waiting while she sorts out this mess. I would send a firm but polite email saying that you are sorry that she is having such trouble with the post but that given that she cannot arrange delivery of the item within a reasonable timeframe that you would like a full refund. You've got the upper hand here as with that few feedback she is very susceptible to a negative feedback.

Gah!

This is driving me NUTS.

I really think the seller might be mad.

I had an email today saying she has been to the PO and they say the item might be lost??? RUBBISH because if she sent it, or them, on Tuesday, surely the PO wouldn't know if it was lost or not by now?
Also her first few emails say that she doesn't know who she posted my item out to, and that 15 of her items have been lost/sent to the wrong people.

Soooo today she says she is going to report me to ebay for stealing! Why? Because i said i would send her the beads back as soon as i get my item.

Taking the complete piss!

Ask for a refund for the footmuff and explain that you need the footmuff and she can't guarantee that you will get it and that she doesn't know where it is.

Report her to ebay for not providing the correct item.

I hate to say it, but do you think it might be some kind of scam? Ie take your money and get you to sign for an item worth much less so they have a "proof" of delivery?

I would send her the beads back though (at her expense) because if everyone she has wrongly sent to holds onto their wrong delivery until they get the right one, no-one will get the right one if you see what I mean.

I would tell her: that you want a refund on the footmuff and if and when she relocates it, THEN you will pay for it (if it's within a reasonable timeframe)

that you want postage costs for the beads at which point you will return them.

how did you pay?

Paid by paypal.
She says the footmuff is on its way to me now(but PO says it might be lost), and she did not send it to someone else, which is not what she said yesterday.

Yeah she sent me a refund of 2.50 to post the beads back to her, but i can't post untill Monday because i am going away for the weekend tomorrow now and i'm not going back near a po today.
I don't know, but it feels like she taking the piss a bit. Hopefully i am wrong though!

You could claim via paypal under the option: item not received - wrong item sent. She has a tracking number from recorded delivery but this won't do her much good as you are not claiming you have not received it you are saying an item of lower value was sent and received.

I would take several clear photos of the necklace and parcel (including sender's and recipient's address if possible) then send the necklace back to her recorded delivery once you have received funds from her to cover the cost. Can you look in her sold items somehow to check she definitely sold a necklace like that and she hasn't totally made the whole story up?

Then if you don't receive the footmuff within a week or two raise a paypal dispute / claim. Just make sure you keep evidence of everything, including all emails, tracking info etc.

I wouldn't hold on to the necklace until you receive the footmuff or you'll be in the wrong too... let us know how you get on!

I sold 2 dresses last year

1 was £15 + £3 p&p

1 was £6 +£3 p&p

I stupidly sent the dresses to the different people-

Immediately I was told I refunded bidder A £23

I contacted bidder b by email and asked if i could telephone her - I phoned her explained the sit and asked her if she could post the package to A (A had agreed and offered to post hers to B)I refunded B £15 to include return postage.

So I gave them the dresses and a total refund and paid costs.

I got a lovely note from A and a email from B.

Ohh no.
I am an IDIOT.

I just used that site linked by mygirl (thanks for that)
The BEADS which are actually PEARLS were sold by the seller for 57 pounds. Hell of a lot more than my footmuff.
Soo it isn't a scam, and i am now the bad guy. I feel so rotten!

It will have to be monday i post them though. I emailed saying i would post them straight onto the buyer if she wanted.
