I am trying to purchase a TFT monitor from a seller who is local to me. The monitor is £60 BIN. I emailed the seller who has replyed that he adds excessive postage costs to reduce his ebay fees and that I could pick it up for £82!!! I thought this was against ebay rules to boost postage costs in this way - what do you think

Sorry, I missed off the most important bit - I emailed him to ask if I could pick it up as he is local.

it is against the rules and that's totally wrong of him to do that. i'd find another seller if you can

I thought post and packing had to be reasonable although you could factor in some cost of materials and time. He is not obliged to agree to local pick up. I wouldn't do business with him though as he seems unfair in his attitude.
