I've done something stupid - what can I do to make it better?

I sold a load of things on ebay a couple of weeks ago.
All packaged up and last thing was posted on Thursday.
All the bits left that didnt sell (baby bits) I gave to a lady with a new baby at toddler group yesterday.

I just checked my email and I've got a paypal payment through today for one sleepsuit that I thought hadnt sold and have given away now!!!!

What can I do? I will obviously refund the paypal payment, but isnt it a legal contract that I have to send the item once sold? How can I get out of the transaction???

Have you tried to explain to the woman? She might be OK about it.

did she buy it two weeks ago and only just pay? In that case you'd be within your rights to say 'sorry, I thought you didn't want it' but I would explain in the nicest way you can and perhaps if it took her 2 weeks to pay she wasn't that bothered anyway.
