Why is my stuff not selling?

Over the last year or so I have noticed quite a decline in my sales. I don't get it. I sell the same thing I always have, my kids clothes from decent brands. I have 100% positive feedback. I always take plenty of pictures with good lighting and I describe my items detailed. But either my stuff sells at 99p or it just doesn't sell. I have started using Buy it now for the new or nearly new things, hoping that would help.

More and more people are selling, I guess. Plus a lot of people sell on Facebook local pages now as it cuts out the postage costs/worrying about item getting there/person not liking it after all/etc.

I don't think the high postage costs now help much. :(

Oh and Happy Birthday to our Queen, today! Smile

I am missing home lately - sunshine always makes me homesick. Fancy a walk down Stroget and a hotdog.

I think you will find loads of people in the same boat, and some of the big stores are always having massive sales on clothes so that doesn't help.
Trying BIN may help but unless its really different I would hold out too much hope, set your prices at want you want to achieve rather than 99p,you are not making anything if you sell at that after fee's and packing and your time.Have you tried finishing your sales later at night when mums are on line say 9-11pm that may make a difference. good luck x

Hi, HolgerDanske, thanks for your reply, and yes, tillykke til Dronningen ;)

Nice to know it's not just me! I have tried selling on local FB pages, but not much luck. I have this theory that 2014-15 are the big clear out years, so the market for second hand clothes is quite saturated at the moment. I give more to charity than I used to, only the best things go on ebay.

I have given up trying to time my auctions, it doesn't seem to make much difference. At the moment I am trying out BIN, and my first item did sell within 2 days, but now I have 17 listings with hardly any page views.

I use MyHermes, and I put postage for all items at £3.50. IRL it's £2.78, but I also have packaging costs to consider plus ebay fees. My local post office is a nightmare, long queues and often their system breaks down, so that is not an option.

I looked on eBay yesterday for a pair of denim shorts for my ds, I nearly bid on a pair with 20 mins left and even though bidding started at 99p I wasn't prepared to pay the £4.75 postage.

Postage is what puts me off buying some items. If I'm selling I just charge the p&p quoted by Royal Mail and find it sells just fine rather than bumping up the price

I just put free postage and start the bidding at £5.00 - Then use myhermes

I've sold an entire bugaboo piece by piece !

I always do a cheeky buy it now with free postage included - and a best offer. I accept sensible offers, buyer pays what they want and you are guaranteed 5 stars for postage.
