Billy Elliot or Legally Blonde?

Hi
Myself and 3 friends are planning a trip to London, we would like to see a show, it has to be in the West End due to travel limitations.
We have thought about Billy Elliot or Legally Blonde. The thing concerning Legally Blonde is that I don't know how good it will be without Sheridan Smith who the critics say was fabulous, also Is Lee Mead in it?

Ones we have already seen are Mamma Mia, Phantom, Les Mis.

Also thought about Wicked but is that as good as the other 2?

Many thanks.

Legally Blonde is great fun..I have seen it 3 times, and it is as good without Sheridan Smith.
Lee Mmead is usually good value for money.
It is worth seeing just for Kyle the Delivery Man and the gay hairdresser. Oh
Wicked is excellent...have seen it 5 times.

Just don't book We will Rock you -Wink

I seem to be in the minority among my friends but I thought it was awful.
Great songs and performances , but the script was like a very bad amateur panto.

I would love to see Wicked i hear it is fabulous. I have seen neither the other 2 although plenty others that i could suggest if you can't agree.

London, dinner and a show - that has to be the best night out Smile

Worse production - lion king Hmm

Have seen all 3 and loved all 3.

Wicked is my absolute favourite as you can tell by my username!

Legally Blonde is great fun, saw it with Sheridan last year in the West End (and the current Elle is supposed to be amazing too she probably has the better voice from clips I have seen but Sheridan was a great actress) and am going to see it again on tour. There Right There (also known as Gay or European) is one of the funniest musical theatre songs around) and as for Kyle the UPS guy :) Dd did a jump rope workshop with a cast member last week.

Billy Elliot is also fantastic but a very different night out, heart wrenching, upligting, I defy any mother to stay dry eyed during The Letter song.

I've seen both this hols, thanks to the bargains on kidsweek. (every summer the west end has a buy an adult ticket take a child for free).

Took oldest to Billy Elliot, it's really good, cry, laugh, the boys they get to play Billy are phenomenal.

The whole family went to see Legally Blonde and it was hilarious! Lovely Lee Mead, and the main girl (who was in Hollyoaks, but I'm non the wiser) was excellent. In the Savoy theatre on the Strand, so lots of places nearby to eat.

Wicked is really good, but if I was going with my 3 mates up to London for show and a fun night out it would have to be Legally Blonde.

Would love to see Priscilla.

Priscilla is great fun (but not one for the kids) its closing too bluesky but am keeping fingers crossed it might tour.

Agree actually night out with mates Legally Blonde - taking kids and family to theatre - Wicked

To behonest I would see both shows again (and again)

I took dd to see South Pacific at the Barbican last week for her birthday, which was wonderful.

Thanks guys.
The thing is we are booking a local trip with the show as an optional. So we have to see a matinee performance which is fine. I don't think we will get there early enough to just book on the day though.
Also it will be a Saturday so are offers still available for Saturdays.
Also is Legally Blonde closing, it will be Feb next year when we go. Sorry for loads of questions. The woman booking the trip recommended The Jersey Boys and South Pacific but I have never heard of either of them. Also my auntie saw Jersey Boys so think it might be too old for us? I am more of am Abba girl x.

No, legally blonde is not closing. You do get less offers for Saturdays but still sometimes do.

South PAcific is old style what we call "legit style" musical theatre Rogers & Hammerstein. the Barbican production is supposed to be good but think it is a limited run before it tours.

Jersey Boys I've not seen but dh wants to as he is into that music.

There are still offers for Saturdays. I haven't heard that Legally is closing, they've just announced new cast members for October onwards, sometimes tours happen at the same time.

I'm same as you, I'm sure Jersey Boys is fab, but it's not really my era.

Mrs RobertDuvall, I don't know the area around the Barbican at all, are there some good places for lunch?

South Pacific is very very different in style to Legally Blonde (or Mamma Mia). From what you have said of your likes, dislikes etc I think you should go for LB.

SP is only on for 7 weeks then it tours.
You will love LB.
