Creative writing

Getting a children's non-fiction published? And a book of sheet music?

I know neither of the above are 'creative writing' really but wondered if this was the right place for advice!

I have a plan for a children's non-fiction about a very specific topic, it'd be facts and craft instructions based on the topic. I'm not an academic though, just passionate about the topic!

I am also writing a set of simple (Grade 1ish) piano pieces, I'm using them with my pupils (I teach casually) but again I'm not qualified in anything relevant.

So for both these things I am a total amateur.

If anyone has advice or even a 'don't bother you've got no chance' then I'd be very grateful :)

There is a market for children's non fiction and craft. Get hold of the Writers and Artists Yearbook ( Amazon or the library about £14 quid). Everything you need to know is in there. There will be details of agents that accept non fiction children's submissions and plenty of advice and Guidelines.

Other people have done it- there's no reason why it can't be you. Good luck.
