Changing tray for Ikea drawers

I'm planning on buying the Hemnes drawers from Ikea as I can't see anything I like in any of the high street stores and refusing to pay loads of money (i.e over £500!) for some of the specialist nursery furniture chests of drawers. However, as I want to use this as a changing table instead of buying a separate one, not sure if I can buy a generic changing tray to somehow fix on top. Ikea don't do one to sit on top of drawers. Or, could I use a pad without the tray?

Any ideas folks?

We had the Malm drawers and just used a normal changing mat on top, and nappies and everything in the top drawer. A friend had the hemnes unit and did the same.

you could try a cot top changer if you want something with edges on it.

Personally I wouldn't bother. The drawers are just the right height and def wide enough for a changing mat.

Thanks for this. I wondered if the mat might slide off easily without the tray, but not sure if any old tray can be easily fixed on if you see what I mean.

you could fit a tray to it, I don't see why not
Aside from damaging the top of the chest of drawers, I can't see any reason why you wouldn't
