Got a Snuzpod - do I also need a moses basket/travel cot? What about a Cocoonababy?

Hi,

My parents have very kindly brought us a Snuzpod for when DD is born. I picked it as you can remove the bassinet and use it around the house BUT where do you put it? I can't put it on the floor and the stand will be upstairs attached to my bed, so do I also need somewhere for DD to sleep in the living room?

I've been looking at moses baskets (I like the wicker type without hoods) and I also like the idea of a travel cot as it turns into a playpen but not sure we would have the room for that.

Then what about a Cocoonababy? These look fantastic but Parents have paid for mattresses for both the Snuzpod and Cotbed, so would feel like they would be wasted if I go the Cocoonababy. Or are they just soo good it's worth it?

Any thoughts welcome. We are first time parents and want DD to have everything (as does everyone)!

Why can't you put the snuzpod on the floor? I used the pram carrycot for daytime naps and put it on the living room floor. It was fine. A travel cot is a possibility but would be a bit big for a newborn.
If you got the cocoobababy surely that would go on the floor? In any case they are very expensive so I wouldn't bother. A cheap moses basket for naps or use the pram and have one less item of baby clutter.

Also wondering why you can't put it on the floor. That's what we're planning on doing with ours...

I just don't like the idea of her being on the floor, no other reason I guess.

No I wouldn't put the Cocoonababy on the floor either.

We don't have animals but am worried about draughts and stuff and how easy it would be to pick her up from the floor.

Well then no point getting cocoon thing in my opinion. Get a Moses basket for downstairs with a folding stand. Or if you want something that will last longer, a travel cot with a newborn height bassinnet thingy. A standard travel cot has a very low base so nearly on the floor and you'd have to bend into it to pick her up.

A word of warning though, many of the little monkeys don't want to nap in any of these devices and insist on sleeping on mummy/being pushed around the block for ages in a pram/being carried in a sling/going in a baby swing etc etc. Don't fork out on every device available until your baby is here otherwise you could waste money on expensive stuff she hates.

Agree with Kat. Wait and see how you feel when your dd arrives, I wouldn't buy more than one bed before you see what sort of baby you have.

ok thanks i'll wait and see what she likes then. My brother's two both slept happily in moses baskets in the living room, as does my friend's baby so I assumed it was the normal thing to do :)

I just put my top part of the SnuzPod on the floor downstairs if that helps (albeit a bit late!!)
