Cots and beds

Bedside cots - how long do they last and are they worth it?

Would love to hear experiences of the bedside co sleeper cots. I'm considering a Baby Bay but can't find info on how big it is to get an idea of how long my baby will fit in it. Does anyone know roughly how long these can be used alongside the bed? My ds is 1 month old and seems to be growing v fast, he's nearly too big for his Moses basket already and doesn't really settle in it v well anyway. He just likes to sleep on me so I'm thinking these cots are a good solution but they're so pricey I just want to figure out how much use we'll get from it.

I found it the absolute best thing, it let him sleep so close to me, and he would transfer from.s breastfeed to his cot without waking. It was like co sleeping without the worry or guilt! He staying in until about 4 months, and he hadn't outgrown it, it was just the right time for him to go into his own room

A bedside cot will last a lot longer than a moses basket but the amount of use will depend how big your LO is and how big the particular cot is. We used a bednest and there was still plenty of room when DD moved out of it at 6 months, but she is small. The Baby Bay is about 81cm x 42cm.

I have a cosatto close to me bedside cot (you can get them cheap on eBay). It is pretty big as bedside cots go - DD is 3 and easily fits it (sometimes she likes to sleep in it!)

It is the best thing ever! DS is 17 months and sleeps like a dream in it and it made BFing really easy too. He also can't fall off the bed, which is really reassuring.

Will be using it for DC3 in Dec/Jan or if I can't shift DS from it I'll have to buy another one for the other side!

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I might look into the cosatto in that case. HAd yet another sleepless night, I'm convinced that bubba needs to see me to be able to settle!

We had a baby bay for DS. It fitted him till 9 months and is now doing sterling work as a computer desk.
