Please help this opk novice before tonight [blush]....

We are ttc and on a whim a while ago I bought some opks from tescos and some from the internet. Didn't really want to get too obsessed about ttc so ignored them... until today, when I used one of the tesco strips at 12 noon. POSITIVE! DH was supposed to be staying away with work tonight, so I called him and told him to change his plans ....But then at 4pm did an internet one, and a tesco one to make sure, and they were both NEGATIVE. Does this mean I missed my chance and I have already ovulated? I understand now that if I had been testing earlier, I would have seen the test go positive, possibly a day or so before. But only have these 2 tests to go on. Doh! What do you think? Did I miss my chance? Should DH bother coming home?

I've just read that ovulation actually happens after the surge (which gives the +ve result rather than ovulation itself). This was all news to me, even at my 5th time trying after 4 unsuccessful pregnancies.

I had a strong positive on Thursday, a weaker one on Friday and then very strong ovulation pains in the middle of Saturday afternoon. So, I'd say you're still in with a chance.
