Going to Dr next week to have it removed so we can TTC

Just want to know if it hurts when its removed? Will I bleed? (was surprised at bleeding when had it put in)

How soon did you ttc and how successful were you, ie how long did it take assuming no known fertility problems?

I have 2 dcs already, am I mental going for #3?? I guess no one can answer that one!

Thanks

Hi - I had my coil removed during my period (which I think is what is usually recommended) and didn't even feel it coming out. I carried on bleeding as usual for my period.

Am afraid it took me over a year to conceive but this was down to other fertility issues

Good luck

Do you have a copper coil or the Mirena? I had mine removed before my period was due, didn't hurt at all and only had a tiny bit of spotting straight after.

With the non-hormonal, theoretically you could get pregnant immediately as it doesn't stop you ovulating. My nurse told me if I was ovulating, or about to and had sex the day before removal I could get pregnant without even having anymore sex!

Its a copper one Muser. Period isnt due next week, maybe the week after, cycle has been so strange since I got it put in, lots of spotting and cramping, but having to wait a week before period starts properly...I dont know if this is just me or normal.
I hope things go back to "my" normal once I have it taken out...

The last time I had one removed, I felt a tiny twinge and that was it. The pain is nothing like the pain from having it put in so don't worry.

I'm going to GP on Monday to have my current coil removed so we can TTC #1 ... very excited!

Hi I had copper one- no pain on removal - like a smear really. Was told to wait one cycle before ttc, got pg the following cycle

I kind of removed mine myself, by mistake of course... and it didn't hurt at all, just felt a little tug inside. We're on cycle 1 since its removal on day 4. We're also trying for baby #3 (after a 6.5 year gap!)

I had my copper IUD removed in December mid cycle and all I felt was a bit of a twinge. I did bleed rather a lot initially and for the next day or so but it had been in there for 7 years. BTW, after removal it took 3 months for my cycles to return to normal. 1st cycle was 36 days, then 34, 32 and finally last month my regular 28. GP said it was something to do with the lining of my womb getting used to thickening up properly again.

Had copper coil removed mid cycle in July '08, fell pregnant in August. Sadly had a mmc but fell again straigh afterwards and now have 8mo ds.

It didn't hurt to have it removed and was no more undignified than having it put in, and was certainly over quicker. I think I may have had some spotting after but no bleeding or pain.
