Does anyone else have 3 week cycles?

I was on the combined pill for years, came off to TTC and fell pg with DS pretty quickly. It's taken a while to get back into the swing of things (not helped by the fact that I'm dreadful at remembering when AF last visited!), but I'm pretty sure I have only a 23 day cycle (think this has probably always been the case but not sure for the reasons above - it's been years since my body was doing things without interference!). Does anyone else have this? We are going to TTC again in a couple fo months and wondered if this may have an effect? Thanks

Yes this eact thing happened to me. I had been on Microgynon 30 and then Loestrin 20 for years (7 I think)before conceiving DD1 very quickly after coming off pill. Then after her birth, my cycle was only about every 23/24 days. It took slightly longer to conceive DS2 but I always easily know when I'm ovulating so perhaps that's why.
The bummer is only having 3 weeks between periods! Last yr, I went back onto the pill to try and have a rest from such frequent periods (I was more anaemic with a shorter cycle) but I hated being back on the pill and I put loads more weight on, although my periods got lighter.
I came off the pill and thought that they might stay in that 4 week cycle but they didn't. Good luck TTC though - you'll be fine I'm sure. If you can't tell when you're ovulating, could you get a digital kit?

I wouldn't worry about a short cycle. I used to have a 23/24 day cycle when I was TTC for my DS a few years ago and had no problem - and I'd had a short cycle for many years. Strangely (or maybe someone who knew about it would say not) my cycle seems to have lengthened over the last few years - when TTC my DD I had a 26 day cycle. Now I am TTC no.3 and I am having 29/30 day cycles! Perhaps that's age, not being on the pill for years or the effect of having had two children. But just trying to reassure you that unless there are no other symptoms and you think you are ovulating that there is nothing to worry about. At least you don't have to wait as long for another long cycle as the rest of us!

Yes. It means you get about seventeen chances a year instead of twelve or thirteen. It is the only time it's of any benefit at all as I'm sure you realise! Otherwise a pita.

No problems getting pregnant though: I don't think it affects that. I had three mc so became quite happy with my three week cycle during ttc. The opportunity came round sooner.

Snap with me, I had one MC before I conceived DS and one between DS & DD. It took no time at all before I was able to TTC again. Now my longer cycle seems like such an age compared to back then, every month that goes by seems to creep so slowly - I wish it was shorter. Bet I'm not alone feeling like that Like you say for the longer term probably better it's longer for my sanity and less frequent AFs!

Hi,

I had a coil removed last july and then had cycles that only lasted 23/24 days. I was told this can be a problem when ttc'ing cos the luteal phase isn't long enough to allow the embryo to inplant. But, after 5 months (7 cycles) I did get a BFP but have just suffered from a MMC at 11 weeks.

I'm now wondering if I should ttc again if my cycles come back short again. It does sound like you ladies got preg easily with the same cycles as me though. Did any of you escape the dreaded MC?

The doc at the hospital said that my MC was probably nothing to do with my short cycles and more likely just a problem with that particular embryo.

Especially as I've carried 2 healthy babies to full term in the past. Also I'm 43 so that could explain the MC being caused by an embryo fault.

Should I ttc if the cycles are still short when they return??

boundarybabe sorry to hi-jack your thread and ask the same question as you .

Afraid I'm not the one to comment on TTC without MC as I have not escaped. One was down to genetic abnormality and another too early to tell, but no indication it was down to a short cycle. I put it down to nature and a bit of bad luck since I was given no indication down to cycle from doctors.
So I'd just TTC and not worry about it myself!

Hi I have just become pregnant for 3rd time (have 2 children) my cycles were about 24 days. I have not been on contraception they have just been fairly frequent since I had dd 2 years ago.

Thanks for the advise Whizzymum (great image of you speeding about) and pookey. I think I probably will ttc again as all I want right now is to be pregnant again. Still getting used to waking up and thinking, "I'm not preg anymore ."

I guess MC's are a part of life and from reading some threads on this site they seem to happen alot more than i realised. My lovely GP didn't think it was anything to do with a short cycle or thin lining etc cos she said my hgh levels were fab at the begining and the embryo obviously imbedded well.

Good luck with your preg pookey.

Sorry again boundarybabe to take over .

Congrats pookey and wheresthepinkyponk with your pregs!

Thanks hippychick and good luck to you too (and everyone else who is TTC of course ) Sorry about your MC, bit of a roller coaster ride isn't.

I must say I've been surprised how I feel TTC again - no matter how lucky I know I am to have my 2 DC I just can't change that longing for no.3. I hate that feeling every month when AF starts that it's another cycle gone and more waiting. Hard not to get obsessed really!

Just hope I don't have to wait too long or go through any more MCs!

whizzy Yes I have 2 DS's but I still really want #3.

I'm guessing you probably have more time than me - I'm 43!!

Lets hope we both get another preg soon and please God no more MC's .

I'm sure I'll catch up with you again .

Yes time is on my hands at least, I'm 33. However stupid body doesn't seem to realise that
I have fibroids growing rapdily and my consultant says I may need to stop TTC to deal with them soon - long story but I had a large fibroid when in my early 20s and surgery to remove it. Am very lucky all went well and have my DC but now there are more lurking again and growing ... nothing is ever simple!

Good luck to you and hope you can start TTC again soon - lets hope we both have positive news to speak of soon

Ahh sorry whizz I tend to think that everyone in there 30's is so much luckier than me but of course mother nature has so many bloody tricks up her sleeves!!

My DS's are 9 & 6. They were really looking forward to the baby. We'd not long told them about 'it'.

Good luck - keep in touch if you want to.
