Hi everyone. I posted this in "General health" but was getting miserable at lack of replies and thought maybe better to put here?? One lovely person did reply to me there though.

I've just come back from a hospital appt where they told me that I have an 8 cm endometrioma. They'll remove it via laparascopy. The gynae said that this means I have endometriosis. I haven't had any of the other symptoms of endometriosis, apart from irregular periods.

I have had 3 MCs and one healthy baby. The last MC (the first 2 were before DS) was further complicated by the fact that I had a 10 cm cyst on my right ovary - the same ovary as this new endometrioma (cyst) is on. It might well be the same cyst. Apparently the cyst was nothing to do with the MC.

Anyway, the gynae has just told me that they're going to remove the cyst via laparascopy but he also scared me by saying (a) because it's 8cm, he might have to remove the whole ovary and (b) it is likely that I have endometriosis and will therefore have trouble conceiving again. Combined with my history of 3 MCs, I'm feeling pretty depressed about the prospect of ever having another baby. I know I am so so lucky to have DS but...I would so love another baby...

Has anyone got any positive stories about having cysts of that size removed without losing the ovary? Or of having endometriosis and/or only one ovary but still getting successfully pregnant? I think I need a bit of cheering up.

Hi starkadder, sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. No experience of have large cyst removed (although I am about to have the same operation) 2 years ago I did have treatment for endometriosis, it had left me infertile and unable to conceive. The endometriosis was removed by laser and I was told it was severe. We conceived the first month we tried after and resulted in our DS.

I really hope you manage to conceive after your operation

Have had Endo for years,as well as cysts and Fibroids.I have very heavy periods and lots of pain but i have managed to have 3dds.I have also had 3 ops to remove various cysts and lining that was in the wrong place. Stay positive,Endomitriosis or only having 1 ovary even, does not mean you will not conceive.I know a fair few women who have had healthy babies after this type of prob .Goodluck with your op
