Any ideas anyone about how I can treat this while trying to conceive? Not had thrush before and the drugs all say don't take whilst pregnant.

Canesten is fine in all its forms (also safe to use in pregnancy).

The tablet (fluconazole) possibly has a very small risk if you are actually pregnant, but is not a problem if you are just trying to conceive.

Cheers that set smy mind at rest - I did take a tablet when initially diagnosed but had AF then so thought it shouldn't have any effect but it doesn't seem to have cleared it up. So I've got some of the cream and a pessary (yuck - had mmc with pessaries so am now feeling fairly anti-them).

Hi - I had AF 6 days ago and she is ending but have thrush which at the moment is not too bad but could potentially be getting worse. I am not sure. I bought the Canesten Fluconazole tablet and only after have read up about how I should not take it when trying to conceive but I am away at the moment for a few days and want to clear it up. I have just taken the tablet and wondered if anyone knew when it would be okay to start ttc (obviously once it has cleared up) after having taken the tablet. Is there a safe time that is allotted? I have seen mags98's comment which I hope is true but wondered if anyone else knew anymore about it?

Thanks

P.S. This is a whole new realm for me as I have not had thrush before.

P.P.S. Should DH also be treated? He shows no sign of symptoms but I know that this does not necessarily mean that he does not have it.

I hate it too TOBAGO04 the little blighter! Thank you for the tip. It appears to be lessening but I can still feel a few tingles or maybe being very paranoid. In theory DH and I should be going at it from Saturday onwards. It is Friday today and I took the Fluconazole tablet on Tuesday early morning. I hope that it is okay to start so soon after having had the tablet?

Hello,

My doc told me to wait a month at least betw taking flucanazole and ttc. She was fairly adamant that this was necessary, as it could harm the baby.
I would definitely suggest speaking to your own GP.

Make sure your DH puts cream on for two weeks. I couldn't understand why I have been got thrush about six times in the past year and finally found out that DH has it hence passing back and forth. GP said important to put cream on him for two weeks.
