How many days into your cycle did your HPT show a positive?

I've been a semi-lurker for a while and have noticed that HPTs seem to give the precious BFP at very different times for different people - some give a positive before AF is due and others nothing for days afterwards.

I'm on day 38 of an average 27 day cycle and will be testing again tomorrow (clearblue test 7 days ago BFN, boots test 14 days ago with v feint positive).

Am quite proud of myself for managing to avoid too much testing but am also trying to prepare myself for the disappointment of another BFN .

When did your BFPs appear?

It can vary with each pg too as depends on ov and implantation

pg 1 & 2 I needed to be 7 days late so 21DPO for a faint pos on a high st brand test

pg 3 got a faint + on an ebay 10 miu at 17 DPO

pg 4 got a reasonable + on an ebay 10 miu at 14 DPO

Ooooo daisy I can't believe your restraint!! My LP is normally 8 - 9 days and am currently 11DPO and have been avidly testing with ultra-sensitive 10miu tests, all BFNs... I would say id you had a faint positive 14 days ago and still no AF that is a pretty good sign!! Sorry - nothing to add, just eagerly awaiting more informative replies as am in a similar position! (well not v similar, in that I have not had a faint BFP and AF only 2 days late but you know what I mean!)

Katster - sounds a pretty similar position to me! I so wish I had some idea of my ovulation day though, I'm just a teeny tiny bit jealous that you know so much about your cycle! Mine seems to average 27 days, but has once been as long as 36 days so I feel as though I haven't a clue what's going on.

Have you been symptom spotting? I have been madly looking for signs while carefully pretending to myself that I am managing not to .

Ha - yep have been pretending to go about my life nonchalantly but secretly clocking every single twitch!! I normally get really sore boobs from only a couple of days after ovulation and this month there was nothing until only a couple of days ago. Don't know if this is good, bad or indifferent! Haven't really had anything really though, although (and this sounds ridiculous!) I have loads of saliva in my mouth!! I googled it (silly me) and it does say it can be a symptom, but I literally feel like I need to swallow saliva all the time. Yuck! How about you?

I was ten days DPO with both, and both were Tescos. I bought Clearblue Digital as well but they were a BFN with the same pee.

I've had burning, sore norks, a weird bubbling feeling very low down in my tummy which I am quite sure wasn't wind , a couple of stringy brown blood spots when wiping (sorry TMI ), backache, headaches when I never normally get them and I couldn't help crying when my mother took me to the Mulberry handbag shop to treat me for my upcoming 40th birthday! That's probably more linked to the horror of being so close to such a scary birthday though.

Haven't had the saliva thing - although now I'm looking for it ....

Hi

I've just posted on another thread but it took 14 days past my last OV day for a positive to come up and I ended up buying a Clearblue digital test because the ebay cheapies were absolute rubbish. I only did the test out of boredom not really expecting it to be positive and nearly keeled over in shock when it read pregnant. However, reading my diary post a few days before I wrote that my boobs were incredibly sore and my gums were bleeding so perhaps I was just in denial! I am now 29 weeks pregnant and that's despite having a short luteal phase, being over 35 and having PCOS.

Any more symptoms today, daisy?! I have got awful cramping so am v sad that this means AF is on her way although I do seem, ahem, very moist down there - so much so that I actually went to the toilet with a pad and tears in my eyes...Have never ever been this late. Another BFN this morning though so goodness knows....

Oh I hope it's not AF - don't they say that very early pregnancy signs are much the same as PM symptoms and can include some very rotten cramps? I am sure I've read that. Take your mind off it and do something incredibly distracting until tomorrow - that's what I've made myself do .

Of course, as I'm carefully not looking for symptoms, I can't share them but I'm also v, v moist , so much so it feels as though there's a slug in my knickers. I'm not sure I like it very to be honest! But there's still no sign of AF - and I'm approaching day 40 ....

I did speak to a gp chum of mine who has recently got a BFP and asked how quickly a test will show positive - she said that a good guide is that a positive should show up any time after you are 5 days late. I didn't expect that, but am very comforted to know it!
