V quick question about coming off the pill...

I have just stopped taking the pill, to ttc. I have not had a period yet, just over a week since last taking the pill. I just wondered if this is usual? Just trying to second guess when I might start ovulating, but with no period I can't!
Sorry if a stupid question, just wondering what's usual.

It can take up to three months for your cycle to return to normal, but you should have a period before then. You don't say when your next period would be due if you hadn't stopped taking the pill - it won't necessarily turn up earlier just because you stopped taking the drug. Also, did you finish a full cycle of the pill or stop mid-packet? This can mess things up too!

Well I was on a progesterone only pill, I stopped taking it a few days before the end of the pack. I haven't had any periods whilst I was on it, but did get monthly symptoms (pms etc) and by that reckoning I should have had my period at the same time I came off the pill. If that makes sense!
Thanks for your reply, I guess I just wait and see!

I think it was about 4 weeks before I had a period after stopping the POP. I think you just have to wait and see...

I got pregnant within about two weeks of coming off mini-pill, so be alert!
Unfortunately I miscarried the pregnancy- but the two weren't connected, ifysim.
Good luck

my period returned 4 weeks after stopping the mini pill but we waited 3 months before ttc as advised by doctor, to get hormones out of body and also something about the pill slowing down the egg so pregnancy can lead to eptopic.

Be aware there is a real bounce in fertility when coming off the pill. Apparently it lasts abotu 3 months or so.

My ds is testament to it!

Thanks for all the replies! I would love to get pregnant quickly, am on folic acid and have cut out caffeine and alcohol already in anticipation.

iltc - thanks for your comment too, I'll do some more research on that, or check with my gp.

Actually the pill leaves your system very quickly after taking the last tablet.

my dr told me not to bother waiting three months and to take advantage of the upturn in fertility. i had a bleed about a week after my last pill, a period three weeks after that and fell pg next cycle, twice.
good luck!
