Hi ladies ?
Trust me to turn what should be a simple yes or no answer into a 'who knows', has anyone else had a ?mare like this?

Me and DH decided to start trying to have a little one from January, but we were a little less than careful in mid November, and I missed my period due on the 22nd November. Now I used to be a bit irregular so I took a test on the 29th and wasn't too phased it was -ve, so unfortunately had a couple of nights out, then took a test on the 5th of Dec and it was positive - woo but eek. Since then I've done everything right, had tiredness, sore boobs and the need to go to the loo loads.
Now we went to the docs yesterday, and he did a test to see, and he said it was negative. He was very dismissive, didn't even show me the test and had us out the door in under five minutes flat - we were his last appointment of the week.
I might be totally suggestible but last night I could feel all my symptoms fading away and felt pretty low. Yet this morning I did a test and it came back +ve and as it was a digital one - it said I conceived about 3 weeks ago. I.e. maybe a week or two less than it should be. But my first pregnant was a pale line to so I wondered if I?m just not big on secreting those hormones or if he just totally screwed up the test or it was a dud, or, or I?ve lost it already or its ectopic?..
I've got to wait til Friday to have a blood test but have been warned to dash to A&E if I have pains in my abdomen which makes me think he suspects it?s ectopic, which I guess would also explain the haywire results.
Has anyone gone through something similar or can anyone reassure me? It was a locum doc he scared the shit out of me and was totally patronising, telling me 'there are lots of reasons why periods can be late' but ignoring the positive result I had recorded. He made me feel like I?d made it all up?.
Arghh, feel very stressed and alone today as my partner had to fly away on business this morning. Today have sore boobs but none of the other symptoms.... but a positive test sitting on the desk next to me.
Help!

hi, when pg with my DD i had several positive then negative then positive results - it depends very much on sensitivity of test.

when you went to doctor had you drunk lots of water? can affect results and might have given you a false negative.

why do you have to wait till fri for a blood test? seems a bit silly - i would go back to doctor and say you want one on monday. you are two or three weeks overdue your period so it's a completely reasonable request.

the other side to this is, i did do a big positive test in jan, went to doc, everything was put in system, started bleeding a week later, then they did a blood hcg and found no pregnancy hormones. the clearblue tests are extremely sensitive and i guess i had an extremely early miscarriage.

in terms of pg symptoms, they are very variable and i don't really get sicky feelings until 6 weeks. but tiredness and a need to pee quite quickly. i should think that trying to spot the symptoms at this stage will just drive you mad.

Thanks so much for the responses. Yep I did drink lots of fluids just before the docs test and I was wondering if that would have done it. As for the early mc I'm still feeling sick and my boobs still hurt but don't know how quickly symptoms would fade if I had lost it...
I'm unlikely to be able to do the blood test til Friday as I work long hours, we're expecting a 30 per cent redundancy cut - find out after xmas - and one of the ways onto the hit list is too many absences apparently. So I'm very nervous of sticking my head above a parapet...

Oh no poor you - how worrying

I can't advise you but have a look at this site which may at least advise you as to which options are possible:

peeonastick

If you look at the Pregnancy test FAQ section, plus the other Pregnancy test sections they should give you some info. Good luck xx

What a great site... the sort of site that answers the sort of questions a few weeks ago I never thought I'd be asking.

Thanks so much for the support gals. I'll let you know how I get on.

Poppet - iirc the digital tests with pregnancy indicator only go up to 3+ weeks pregnant.

If yor test said this, that suggests that your HCG should be pretty high. Certainly high enough for other tests to come out positive and I therefore suspect that the test at your GP was defective.

FWIW, while with ectopics it is relatively common to get BFNs for quite a long time, I would have thought it a bit odd to get a positive, then a negative and then a strong positive.

If I were you I think I would do another digital test in a week. If it still says 3+ weeks, all may well be fine.

I was never one for doing milions of tests. I always felt once I'd a couple of positives the main thing to "reassure" me was the continued absence of my period. I'd say the same for you.

If you haven't a period for what, 7 weeks, and you've had positive tests then you're pregnant. Congratulations

Though I suppose that with a negative test (but only one remember, and not done by you, done by someone in a rush) and with warnings about rushing to A&E etc I can see you'd feel quite worried/concerned/anxious.

Just keep testing at home, expensive though... if they're still positive and no period then you're pregnant. Well done.

Good luck it sounds to me like you are and perhaps the fluid in your body diluted the pee at the doctors.

Poppet Good luck,it sounds very promising that you are pregnant. The pg tests at the dr,s are notoriously unreliable. My friend is a dr,s receptionist and she did 5 tests from work all -ve.Did a clearblue test and got a very strong positive. Let us know how you get on.

Hi guys,

Well it's official I'm knocked up!!! Had more of those pains today and couldn't face waiting til Friday for a blood test so went (ohhh the shame I've never wasted NHS resources like this before) to A&E. I waited til it was a quiet Sunday afternoon, they saw me really quickly, were lovely, said I was right to come in and the nurse gave me a hug and a congrats when she gave me the results. The pains are the uterus stretching, and I did have some abnormal proteins in my blood but they reckoned I was probably just dehydrated as I wanted to make sure I didn't fail another test.
Am just so made up about it all.

With so many thanks for all your kind words. Here's to wonderful exciting 2009s for all of us.

You were right to go to A&E anyway, speaking as one who has had an ectopic with virtually no symptoms except yo-yo-ing hormone levels.

Congratulations and at your GP.

Hi all. I’m wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I tested positive on Sunday (9 positives, 7 easy@home and 2 on clearblue) and then Monday morning it was faint, tuesday it was negative. On Tuesday morning I also had some very light bleeding and cramping all day but then none since. This morning, a vvfl on easy@home so I counted myself out. Then this afternoon a thick positive, a second and now a third!! What is going on? Just very confused as to why I was positive, negative and now positive again? Has this ever happened to anyone?

Positive, negative, then positive again... argh.

did you drink more or wee before taking the negative ones?

My tests got lighter between 11dpo and 14dpo with no reason, she’s now 11 weeks old.

Positive, negative, then positive again... argh.

No! All the negatives were from my morning pee which should be the most reliable. Weirdly today I had a vvfl from the morning pee, but strong positives when I tested from a pee 3 hours later, then another and hour after that. So strange
