Do not trust OPKs

Did OPKs in Oct and looked like no ovulation. We had a go anyway for fun as we've given up hope now.

But, Dh has just called to ask if I've come on yet. I haven't and have a BFP here on the desk. EEEKK.

Can this be real? It's evening, I'm about 4-5 days late. Been trying for 20 months ish and I've resigned myself to the fact that probably no more for me. (I'm getting on a bit too)

OPK said no ov though. Can they be wrong? OR is preg test wrong? Have had period pains and keep tinking af is due any moment now.

Must go and pace about.

you may have missed the surge....entirely possible. At htis point in your pregnancy, a test would be positive at any time of day...mine always were.

Which test, proper line, within time? Cramps are normal.

I have heard others on here saying they haven't got a +ive on an opk but for whatever reason have had a scan and know they have ovulated.

I would not use OPKs in isolation to be honest.

Ooooh how exciting for you!

I've been using OPKs for a few months and and I hardly ever get a positive (once or twice in six months I think). I'm not pg yet though but have been pg four times in total. I'm feeling really annoyed with them. I get other symptoms of OV so am hoping the OPKs are just rubbish!

Both tests were ones from Access Diagnostics.

Gave up on OPk's and then a really kind lady from MN sent me some with some magical Welsh baby dust. Helped me at least confirm and get an idea of when I mihgt be ov'ing.

A definite line in the correct time Oh crikey moses, am in shell shock.

Bendy becky, have you 4 children already then?

If I do another test in a.m and says I am I will pass on remaining OPKs to another lucky Mnetter. Or am I jumping the gun a bit here?

I think if another confirms, i would take it that you are. My third pg was confirmed by same dip test from there....

Thanks Scorpio. I'm a scorpio too. Passionate, determined, sexy, demented.

Hi WowOooo

No two children, two MCs (child, MC, child, MC). Last MC in May and been TTCing again since then. OPKs haven't helped me yet!

Have you tried pre-seed BendyBecky?

Bought some and tried it for the first time in Oct. Have only just realised that. it's a lubricant that's sperm friendly. Maybe a coincidence, maybe not...

When i'm past the danger zone will give the rest away here. Sorry to hear about your m/cs. It could happen for you soon, fingers crossed for you.

Thanks newme, but.....Are you entirely sure?!!!

Didn't do another test today as too worried it mihgt all be a dream! Gonna try again in the a.m.

Have been avoiding conception threads recently as it was just all too depressing.

As much as I hate to say it, saying to ourselves 'sod this, we're happy as we are and will give up trying' seems to have done the trick..(it annoyed me if people said don't get stressed about it)

But quite often it is true!

That's the Catch 22: you just can't not get stressed. The first time I got pg I didn't even know about ovulation and all that malarkey never mind working out when to do it via temperatures and tests and all that. We just did it without contraceptive whenever we were in the mood. It was more fun then .
