Does KY jelly affect chances of getting pregnant?

I have recently read on the internet that KY jelly can kill sperm or affect their motility and therefore reduce your chances of conceiving.

Does anyone have any information about this or know if this is true? I often use KY, it says on the bottle that its not a contraceptive, but obviously I don't want to use anything that may affect may cances of geting pregnant.

If KY is not good does anyone know of any alternatives?

Thanks

Hi there,

I believe that KY does kill the sperm. I wasn't aware either and stopped using it when I found it.

There is something called "Pre-Seed" which is very similar but is not only Sperm-friendly, but apparently "encourages" the sperm towards the egg.

I actually bought some off of Ebay - yes they really sell it on there - !!

Be aware aswell that saliva can also kill sperm!!

Hope this helps.

Yup, use pre seed or egg white.

Yes, egg white from a hens egg. Scoosh it up there with a nurofen syringe.

Yes, of course, but most eggs that you buy now are from chickens which have been vaccinated.

Toni Weschler talks about using egg white in her book "Taking charge of your fertility" so I'm not making it up! Honest!

Think I'll try the pre-seed option before cracking the eggs open!!
