Okay, sick of this. Trying to be positive (no pun intended) but how does one cope with disappointment every bloody month? Am blessed with one DD, been trying over a year for another and I am so sorry to those who have been trying for longer. Been to a private clinic who have offered to do a laparoscopy as scan showed nothing wrong. DH's sperm has got a bit of low mobility but was advised to take Wellman tablets. I just feel that we have this cycle of a week of shagging, two weeks of waiting, a couple of days of feeling sick with nerves, then a week of period when I feel so bloody sad and then have to get over it so we can shag again!!

Not expecting any answers to this but just nice to know that its not just me.

It's not just you and it's really hard. Big hug to you. And some chocolate.

I am wondering why the clinic have suggested you have a lap done because this is surgery under GA. Have they told you exactly why they want to do a lap operation (it is often done when endometriosis is suspected). You do not want surgery unless absolutely necessary.

Low motility is a problem with regards to sperm; do you know what the morphology (form) is like?. Simple remedies like wellman tablets may not actually work - think its poor of the clinic to actually suggest that. Think as well they should be doing more repeated semen analysis if this has not already been done to see if there is an underlying male factor problem.

I hope you did your researches very carefully before paying out for treatment as some private clinics can offer poor as well as expensive treatment. Not all private clinics are good ones.

Christie - thank you. You certainly have been through it. Your DD is beautiful and I do realise that compared to some, we are very lucky. It does make it worse when all around you, your friends are becoming pregnant on almost a weekly basis.

Attila - The clinic did an internal scan and they could find no problems with my womb/ovaries. The msg from the consultant was to try and relax, take time blah, blah. He also said that if, after a few months we wanted to investigate further the best way to have a proper look around would be a lap. He did stress that this should not be taken lightly, as it is an op under GA and is expensive.

DH's sperm was JUST under the norm. The consultant reckoned this was because he hadn't ejaculated for 2 weeks.

The hospital was the Lister in London which I believe has a good rep.

Hi BelleColour

Would certainly agree with him re the lap. BTW
was the internal scan you mention a HSG?. A HSG is a tubal x-ray and is a useful test to have done.

Have they also not suggested a repeat semen analysis?. Seems they are concentrating a lot on you which is all well and good but they ought to be testing him further in tandem with your own tests. One semen analysis if this is all that has been done re him to date is by no means conclusive.
