I came off POP just over 2 months ago and are just starting to TTC. I came on bang on 4 weeks after i stopped taking the pill, had normal period, then i was due on last wednesday and still havent come on.

My gp said it can take a few months to regulate after the pill. But i really want to know how on earth do i know when im ovulating?! Not many people seem to have had much luck with the tests you can buy...

I'm in a similar kind of boat, although I'm trying to cut down breastfeeding and that is the same ind of hormonal mess as the pill apparently, I thought I was starting my 2nd cycle post baby but it seems just to have been spotting and I want to know when I'm ovulating so I can have another one. I've been trying keeping temperature records to show when I'm ovulating but its hard practically because it has to be the first thing you do when you wake up and as I'm normally woken by DS shouting I don't shove a thermometer in my mouth and let him cry a bit longer! It might help you learn where your body is up to though. Good luck

how does the temp thing work? Your temp is higher or lower when ov?

Your temp will rise, but only after you have ovulated, so using it as an indication to get busy with your dh is a waste of time!

A better way is to check your cervical mucus. Lots of clear and very stretchy mucus is your major fertile time, so have sex everyday you have this time of mucus and until the day after it has finished.

I can recommend a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It's very informative and enlightening.

Good luckxx

You need a basal thermometer (chemist or online) and need to take your temp when you wake up every morning BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE! Don't get up, have a drink, or even cuddle dh/p. Just lean over and stick it in your mouth at the same time each day. If you have been up in the night you need to have been back in bed for at least 3 hours before taking your temp.

Keep a record of your temp. It will go up after you have ovulated. It won't tell you when you are about to ovulate but it will tell you that you have. Keep taking your temp. It will usually drop again just before your period but if it stays high for 18 days you are pregnant!!

There are loads of really helpful temp threads on the conception boards. Good luck!!!!

Your mucus will thicken in to the consistency of an egg white when you are at your most fertile. Have sex every day or every other day in the week leading up to you ovulating.
