And i want you all to be honest with me and that is the only condition i want you to leave a post

Have been trying for baby number 3 since august 05. Although i have had one chemical pg thats it. Never had a problem with ds1 or ds2. I haven't used contraception - and to my knwledge dh has not had a vasectomy Now i have longish cycles roughly 36 days. CD30 or thereabouts my breast start getting tender and they stop about day 35 where AF shows up on the dot! ....Now, hear lies my problem. CD30 comes and goes with no sore or tender bits so i test ..bfn of course. I have test practically everyday and nothing Today i am CD39 and still bfn(?)
So where is my af??? I suppose what i really want to know is, could there still be a chance of me being pregnant or am i just having a delay on the AF front? Have had no symptoms of her arriving. Has anyone not had a bfp until late or am i just completley disillusing (sp?) myself and any minute af will turn up? and as the title says i need honesty
Thanks to all you lovely honest people

mine did this once, was alway so time then one time it was 6 days late.

No idea why, but I spent ££££ on tests.

After period was abit squ-wiff and would arrive a day eraly od a day late for months.

I thik this could be why DS4 is here, my usual ability to read the signs of OV did work becasuse they were all up the spout.

The only thing I wondered after so many -ve tests was if it wqs early menopause.....how old are you??

Hi,

I would think there is a fertility problem preventing conception at this time.

I would say that your longer cycles are certainly playing a part here - it may be that you are not ovulating regularly if at all. A "normal" cycle is a cycle length of between 21 and 35 days.

I would think that when your period does decide to show it will be an anovulatory one (i.e one in which ovulation did not happen).

I would get a blood test done to see what your hormone levels are like and ensure that both your LH and FSH levels are compared against each other when the results come back.

Your DH should be tested as well to ensure he has no male factor problems.

Will you be willing to visit with your GP to discuss this?. I think a discussion and blood test would be a good place to start.

I didn't get a positive result until nearly 4 weeks after my period had been due - the only time I had had sex was the day before my period had been due - thereforeI conceived that day! So at 3.5 weeks late for my period I was actually 3.5 weeks pregnant. It didn't show before because although my period was so late, my pregnancy was not far enough.

tbh i think you should get yourself to the docs and ask to be referred i dont think you are pg tho, it could be that the stress of ttc is affecting your cycle, they are delicate things sorry i cant help more

Whereforartthou,

I would visit your GP asap. I would not bother keeping a temp chart or anything like that as these take up time and more importantly these can be unreliable in the event that cycles are irregular in nature. Blood tests will be far more accurate.

You should be given a blood test at the beginning of a calendar month - this is called a day 3 test. This will measure your LH and FSH hormone levels. Your GP must compare the LH against that of the FSH. A test done later in the month is called a day 21, this measures progesterone levels and can indicate whether ovulation has occured or not in that particular month.

Generally speaking fertility does decline with age. It is in your interests therefore to seek medical advice asap witha view to getting a referral.

I am new to all this so bear with me please. We have been ttc for 2 years. ds is 5 have been to doctor who checked thyroid etc etc told me to keep trying as I am still young and "ive done it before so i can do it again". dh also had sperm test but didnt understand result and is useless with doctors. currently trying ov calender and kits.
My cycles are irregular anything from35 to the mid 40s. any advice please.
What is clomid im sure gp mentioned it in passing, before i was dissmissed....

Frankielamb,

I detest docs who just fob people off in such a cavalier manner. It does the patient a big disservice.

At 2 years of ttc without success there is likely to be a fertility problem with either one or both of you equally. Both of you should be tested thoroughly to ascertain the cause of the underlying problem.

With regards to your periods they would certainly be seen to be irregular in nature. Such problems are often caused by hormonal imbalances; a common culprit in this regard is a condition called polycystic ovaries or its related syndrome PCOS. Both are very common - has this possibility every been mooted with your good self.

Some docs are ignorant when it comes to either the above so it may not have registered with your Doc that you could have this.

A blood test if taken should have measured both your LH and FSH levels. If this had indeed been done both levels should have been compared against one another, it is only then that a problem can be seen.

I would return to the GP asap and insist that you are referred to a gynae wihtout any further delay.

Do not be fobbed off anymore!!!.

I would also counsel that you stop using the ov kits and temp charting methods with immediate effect; both of these are both a waste of time and problematic to interpret if your periods are irregular.

Clomid is a drug used to make the ovaries work harder; it is often given to women with ovulatory problems like PCO/S. However, you need a diagnosis first and foremost and you need to go all out to obtain this. You need a gynae referral and do not take no for an answer.

Also clomid should ideally be given under a gynae's supervision; you need to be monitored carefully whilst on this drug treatment. Also many GPs do not have the time or expertise to handle such gynae issues; you need to see a gynae now.

HTH and good luck. Be assertive!!!.
