TTC over 2 years, just found out 1 tube is blocked...

Hi,

I've been ttc for over 2 years, I have PCOS. Tried clomid in the past to ensure I ovulate every month (I appear to only ovulate every other month at most) it done the job in terms of regular ovulation but still no bfp. I had a hsg/hycosy last year, I was told both tubes were fine Hmm

Yesterday I was taken in for a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. After surgery the nurse told me that my right tube is completely blocked. I have to see my private consultant to discuss it further and get the results of my biopsy.

I know 2 weeks isn't long to wait but it feels it. Does anyone know what my option would be with PCOS & a blocked right tube? My friend conceived after they removed her left tube that was twisted, but they may not remove mine? Am I going to have to go straight to IVF, or are there other avenues I can explore? With trying for so long I am worried I only ovulate from my right side.

Village, did they try to unblock your tube during the lap?

I had emergency surgery to remove my left fallopian tube due to ectopic pregnancy earlier this year and remembered asking in a panic what would happen to the future eggs released from my left ovary. The doctors & specialist nurse each explained that fallopian tubes are dynamic structures, they move around and are not fixed to the ovary on that side! The scan I had diagnosing the ectopic showed that I had ovulated from the right ovary that month, but it had been caught by, and got stuck in, the left tube. Apparently they don't have 100% accuracy catching the 'wrong' side, but they have a damn good go!
Just wanted to reassure you that despite one of your tubes being out of action, your chances have not been cut in half. Mother nature is amazing!! Smile
