So I have been trying for baby no 2 for almost 2 years.
My question is the ladies who have tried for a while and then got a BFP, did you do anything different to conceive? Try anything ect?
Me and hubby have both have tests done and everything is fine, and both under 30.

Hi pickle - I'm in the same situation- been ttc number 2 for just over 2 years now and it's so frustrating isn't it? I would love to hear from anyone too who had a bfp after so long as I have lost hope

Here's my TTC timeline

Jan 2011: start TTC. Nothing happens for 3 years (we were quite happy biding our time)

Jan 2014: OH has sperm analysis - turns out his sperm is basically rubbish - 1.5m count, 0% normal morphology, 15% motility. Told we'll never conceive naturally and IVF with ICSI is our only option.

August 2014: get IVF referral

Sept 2014: natural BFP - MC at 6 weeks

Jan 2015: IVF #1 - BFN

June 2015: Natural BFP - chemical

August 2015: IVF #2 - BFP - chemical

December 2015: Natural BFP - ectopic. Delays our planned IVF #3 in Jan 2016

Jan 2016: decide to give up trying naturally so as to avoid another MC/ectopic delaying IVF again

Feb 2016: accidental natural BFP. Am now 22 weeks pregnant and everything looks absolutely fine with baby.

I can't believe that I've turned out to be one of those miracle stories that you only ever read about on the Internet. I genuinely still can't understand how we got pregnant naturally, having been told more than once that we would not conceive naturally. We were even advised to consider a sperm donor!

OH started taking Proxeed for Men in Jan 2015, and I started taking Proxeed for Women in July 2015. OH also started on high strength vitamin C in Dec 2015. We both drank less (although didn't cut it out completely). We'll never know if any of this made a difference, but it may well of done.

Good luck, and never ever give up.

Thanks imps for your story and congratulations, that's amazing for you. Wishing you a happy and healthy rest of pregnancy. It's good to hear things like this happen when you feel so hopeless sometimes

Wow imps, very impressive, although I'm sure it's not been easy to get were you are now.
Well I had a mc in March this year at 5 weeks. 1 month prior to this, husband had sperm analysis and everything was fine. I also had a scan after the mc and ovaries all looked normal. The scan even showed I released 2 eggs that month!
I have a 3 year old son who I would love to give a sibling too but I'm yet to pursue this. Currently on cycle day 1.
I'm forever hopeful this will be our month.

Also just to add the month I caught on we only had sex twice that month and yet caught on I was so shocked. But unfortunately ended in mc Sad

Yes, we have up trying! I was so fed up of month upon month of nothing. I'd started clomid and still nothing! I literally gave up in my heart. It was two years ttc and I just ate what I wanted, drank alcohol, even smoked a few cigarettes! We dtd once the month we conceived. I really hope you get your bfp soon xx

Imps your story has brought a tear to my eye and I'm the least emotional person I know. Congratulations to you and a MILLION hugs of best wishes to so TTCers. I can only begin to imagine the heartbreak you must all ensure and how annoying the flippancy that many women apply to conceiving must be xx

Thanks so much Desmondo. In a funny way I'm really proud of our TTC story and the way we've dealt with it without falling to pieces. And I will never ever take having babies for granted or ask those easy/flippant questions "so when are you having children/child no. 2" etc - I know how gutting those questions can be.

Although I absolutely hate it when people say "relax and it will happen" (grrrr) it does seem curious that so many natural BFPs happened after we had been told that we'd not conceive naturally, and that the one that stuck happened when we were actively trying to avoid getting pregnant (how useless we are to not be able to manage that!). Although I still believe that we were really quite relaxed throughout the whole process (there were very few tears actually, just a determination to plough on), the pressure being lifted more or less completely may well have helped.

It's a shitty challenge and I really really hope all long-term TTCers get there pronto.

Here's my timeline:

Started TTCing no.2 in March 2013
Had to stop in August 2013 due to OH's cancer treatment
January 2014 - OH gets all clear from treatment
Restarted again in March 2014 (once all chemo out of his system) warned that he now may be infertile
OH tested in January 2015 everything fine
Me bloods in February 2015 - all fine.
Back in February 2016 - referred for bloods and scans. Scan however wasn't needed as
BFP March 2016 - now 18 weeks pg (only dtd once that month as both of us had colds.

3 years exactly! Had got to the point where we had thought it wasn't going to happen and had begun to talk about stopping. Thankfully not many people asked as they knew about OH's cancer treatment, although it hasn't stopped some nosey people asking if it was natural or not!
Good luck to all long term TTCers, I hope you get there quickly.

It took my parents 8 years of to have me! DM married at 21 and ttc straight away and had me at 29. No help in the 70s to conceive. Several miscarriages along the way and they were planning to stop ttc and try to adopt when my mum miscarried me (not if as they expected the pregnancy to end like all the others) but fortunately she didn't Smile
