Weight loss and other prep before ttc

Interested to know if others have set any goals before ttc. I'd really like to be much fitter and a bit lighter than I am as I've slipped into a post marriage comfort zone. I've come off the pill but am waiting a couple of months for my cycle to get back to normal. Plan to use that time to hopefully get back into a healthy exercise and eating routine. Anyone else doing similar? Interestingly my gp advised no alcohol/soft cheese etc. whilst trying and no prescription drugs for 14 weeks before. Is this the norm?

The advice is 3 months folic acid prior to ttc which I did. Also using myfitnesspal app to calorie count, not set a target weight before trying but its making me think and eat healthier, also gives you an idea if you are getting enough nutrients from your diet eg, iron, calcium, protein. Didn't come off pill prior to trying though just started as soon as withdrawal bleed out the way. First cycle was a bit chaotic feeling very nauseous, loads of spots and got excited, but nothing so think that was just my body getting used to hormones, in second 2ww now so waiting to see! Didn't see my GP first so can't compare advice but not been on any medication other than the pill, don't drink alcohol, eat soft cheese or rare meat. Something else to consider hot tubs, saunas etc not considered safe in early pregnancy so best avoided in 2ww.

Good luck :-)

I am using my fitness pal too and doing the occassional 30 day shred session to tone up
I've only recently made the appointment to get my implant out in a couple of months, as I've been dithering from to baby or not to baby but we've decided to just go for it!
I'll have to pick up some folic acid actually, thanks for reminding me Grin
Scary and exciting!

I'm TTC now and just focusing on maintaining healthy habits. Lots of fruits, veggies, multivitamins with folic acid, water, and exercise. I do hot yoga 2x a week and walk about 30 miles per week.

We started TTC last July. I came off the pill in Feb, lost two stone, stopped drinking and started folic acid in preparation. Here we are on cycle 13 still not expecting and wishing we had started sooner. I gave up the tee total thing about four months in. Some may disagree, but acting like you're pregnant when TTC becomes really depressing month after month and when you've been trying as long as us you just want to stop putting your life on hold just in case. I have maintained my weight since November (bmi 26 so almost in a healthy weight) and other than that and taking my conception vitamins I've carried on as normal.

Simplydivine I agree that it's a bit extreme to give up everything whilst ttc I was surprised that doctor advised it. I think I'll just to continue to enjoy what I enjoy in moderation and see what happens.
