Hi everyone,

I have been reading mumsnet for ages, even before becoming a member. I am in search of some success stories as am feeling very sad at the mo.

  • In autumn 2015, we told I have PCOS and began taking 1500mg Metformin daily. I only ovulated once (according to an OPK) since then (only to find out that they aren't reliable for PCOS!)

  • Forked out loads of money to have reflexology done (which felt nice but am not sure if it actually works...) Have now stopped it because it was getting to expensive to go weekly.

  • My husband and I had all other tests done including HSG and sperm, all of which came back fine.

  • Just started my first round of clomid and am hoping that this works for us. I am on 50mg for CD 2-6. I just had my first monitored scan and the nurse said that it might be too early to see if the follicles are growing. Fingers crossed though that it works for us... And of course, we need to go away for a week during the middle of the cycle. So I won't be able to be monitored from days 15 - 22. My husband is going to come and meet me for a few days while away because we are so desperate not to miss the window!

Does anyone with PCOS who did Clomid have any advice? When did you ovulate? As the scans can only be done Mon-Fri on the NHS, I was wondering how people checked over the weekends if they were ovulating? Can OPK's be trusted? Did you check you temperature?

Sorry for all of the questions, am just feeling very overwhelmed and am kind of losing hope here. Any success stories would be very much welcomed!

I have PCOS and have one 2.5 year old DS and am currently pregnant with my second.

DS was conceived with Clomid. I didn't have any monitoring on it as it was prescribed by my GP. I monitored my temps though so I could pick up on ovulation. I didn't ovulate on the first cycle (50mg) so my dose was increased to 100mg. I ovulated on the second cycle but didn't conceive and then I finally conceived on the third cycle.

With this pregnancy (I'm only 7 weeks so early days) I was just treated with metformin. My gynaecologist and I were fully expecting me to need Clomid again. I ovulated within a couple of months of starting the metformin (I was also having acupuncture and improved my diet/exercise which resulted in some weight loss). I'm pretty sure it was the first time I ovulated since I had DS so considering myself very lucky to be pregnant.

It can happen though it may take time. It took 16 months for DS and 17 months this time but once I actually ovulate it all happens pretty quickly.
Best of luck!
