ttc after ruptured appendix

Hi everyone, just to give you all a bit of back ground:
I had the implant removed in September '14 after a termination 3 years prior - a choice that was taken away from me. Me and DP started ttc in March '15 with no joy. In around November 2015 I started to notice very heavy, frequent/irregular periods. I went to the dr's in Feb and they reluctantly agreed to do an ultra sound (this apt was quite vague so I assume they are looking for fibroids that's causing the bleeding, do you think they're looking for anything else?)
Anyway during one of my many midnight googles I found a few sites with people saying it's unlikely to naturally conceive after a ruptured appendix. My appendix ruptured in July 2014 and I had peritonitis and a lengthy hospital stay - how would I find out if this affected my chances of ttc - hycosy?
Does anyone have Any similar stories or advice??

Hi, i found your post quite interesting as I also had a ruptured appendix in 2013. Like you, this led to peritonitis and quite a lengthy hospital stay & recovery period. I had no idea, however, this would affect fertility! I'm quite worried now! Has a doctor confirmed this? Off I go now to frantically Google! Xx

If you had perontitis when the appendix ruptured then you may have issues. I would ask your GP for advice and a referral if needed xx

I had a ruptured appendix with peritonitis in 2008 but have since conceived three times, 2011, 2013 and 2015. Dc1 and 2 after 2months trying both times. My third pregnancy ended in miscarriage after taking a bit longer to conceive but I think that's for other non related health reasons.
Hope this isn't insensitive - just wanted to give you a positive story.

I've been trying since November, Katie. What about you? I hadn't even thought about the fact it could potentially affect fertility. Mines was quite a nasty case, too. Left lying on a hospital bed for 4 days with a leaking appendix before they opened me up in various parts to remove what was left! Going to see gp again in May & will speak about concerns relating to this.

sweet that's reassuring to hear! It's always good to hear from someone in a similar position that has managed to conceive! Xx

Cookie that sounds horrendous, you had it much worse that me by the sound of it! We've been ttc since March last year so about 12 months.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss sweet but thanks for the success story, gives me hope x
