Pre TTC lifestyle changes - anyone at this stage?

We are not ready to TTC yet - if it happened by accident then that would be a different story but our health and employment situations are not great just now, but employment should settle within the next year or so. Health wise my DP is recovering well and should be 100% within a few months. I have a long term condition that is difficult to manage at times and I want to try and get it under control before adding pregnancy in the mix.

I would like to lose weight and become more active. I think this would make conception and pregnancy easier.

I want to eat more healthily - for health/weight reasons and also so as baby is getting good nutrition.

I want to finish parts of my post graduate training that will enable a more steady income.

Is anyone in a similar position? Or anyone want to join me even if you are ttc?

I have name changed for this board as family etc know I use mn and I use the same name on all of internet!

Hey LemurFingers,

Sounds like I'm in the same boat as you. Planning on TTC towards the end of the year & until then I'm focussing on losing weight & saving up a bit. We've got a baby bucket list holiday planned for November so thats distracting me from baby things a bit.

Good luck with the losing weight, postgrad & job front Smile

I would love a baby NOW - like right this second! But DP is more cautious and he is right really - I just have a very loud biological clock and I don't want to pressure him.

How are you planning on losing weight?

There is a great book called 'it starts with the egg' all about maximising your egg quality through making lifestyle changes. If you have a fewontha before ttc then I'd definitely recommend giving it a go

I remember YEARS ago, maybe 12 years or so, watching a prog with Trevor Macdonald and was about women who were spending a year pre ttc. It was a bit extreme but since I have some time before we do TTC I am looking for ideas - helps me feel like I am doing something rather than aimlessly waiting.

Have had MC before with previous partner and I think psychologically this helps.

Yep I'm on my "sort my life out" action plan now ahead of hoping to start trying for #2 in September.

I want to get a new job this month or the next so I'll be in it around 9-12mths before falling pg.

I had GD in my last pregnancy so want to lose weight ahead of another. Lost 2st last year and hoping to lose another 1.5st this year.

Also in anticipation of only getting SMP at a new company we seriously need to save before trying to supplement my mat leave.

im off the pill now but only so I can get AF back and start tracking cycles
