drinking?

We're thinking of TTC early next year.
How necessary is it to stop drinking whilst TTC? DH says we should to maximise chances. I feel I'd miss it (not a heavy drinker but would like to have the option when on a night out etc.) Also worried about what to tell people - half thinking just tell them the reason if they ask, if it's close friends? Or should we make excuses?

You have no idea how long it will take you to get your BFP, so putting your life on hold will just make things more stressful. A few drinks isn't going to be a problem in most cases, although if you do find you are having difficulties then that would be the time to try and see if cutting it out made any difference. I started out not drinking but 3 cycles in and I'm having the odd glass when I feel like it, and just trying to have as little as possible during the 2ww after ovulation so that if I have conceived, I won't affect the baby
