Roll on 3 months to my next appointment. I was hoping for an internal scan but unfortunately the Doc decided to do it next time:(. I got blood tests and a swab which I had to go into the bathroom and do myself :/. The Doc also said I need to go back to my own Doc and get day 21 bloods done again because the last one showed no sign of ovulation. I'm so glad that things are moving but at the minute I feel like I got nowhere really. DH has his appointment for SA on the 7th nov so that's something that will be answered soon enough thankfully.

Hi there, sorry to hear you didn't get what you were hoping from the appointment.
I have been wondering about how long the process takes as hubby and I are on the brink of referral now. GP has done bloods and swabs, and dh has had a semen analysis which is to be repeated next week due to borderline morphology - slightly different to your situation, but any information you have on next steps would be appreciated.
Feeling a bit overwhelmed :(

Tutsy It does take a long while I went to my gp at a year and had 3 months of day 21 taken which showed no ovulation (she did this to save time at gynae) she then referred me.
Had internal scan dp SA another set of blood tests day 3 and 21 and HSG in the space of a 3 month period and he asked me to lose a bit of weight to.
Had second appointment after the 3 months and was given clomid so all in all took about 8 months to get to clomid

Blueberry - what are they looking for with the internal scan?

The GP should have referred you for internal scan at the same time as getting bloods done and your DH sperm results. All these were done before we got fertility appointment. Scan is looking for cysts, fibroids and they check the lining of the womb given what stage of cycle you are.
Good luck.

Thanks allchat, I still can't believe that we have reached this point where we're in the 8% who didn't conceive within a year.
I know nothing about fertility treatment so don't really know what to expect from the next few months.

Don't worry sam. It's always like that a bit at the start of the fertility journey. Unfortunately some gps are that proactive or knowledgable so some people spend a few months going back and forth.
Hope it gets easier and you get some answers soon, but fertility is hugely complex and there seems to be 101 reasons for this and that, so maybe prepare yourself for not getting a clear cut solution. Sorry, hope that doesn't sound depressing, but it can be a frustrating journey. X

Thank you. If rather be prepared even if it is a bit depressing. Fingers crossed we don't have to wait too long for an appointment. X

Hi sam

I waited 3 months before I got my first appointment with the RFC which I was surprised how fast it was. I have another 12 week wait for the next appointment which is a pain but I think its kind of a good thing in a way it gives more time to try naturally. I hate that I'm not getting pregnant and its getting me really depressed with life but now I have started my investigation's I feel that better. I'm doing all I can really and its hard but we all need to stay strong and keep trying. :) Hopefully you get your appointment soon. GOOD LUCK.

Just trying to keep busy so the waiting goes quickly!
Good luck with your appointment Smile hope the time flies by and you get some answers. X

It's a good step in right direction, keep a diary of dates of tests and what it is for as we had some miscommunication and doubled tests and it wasn't until I took a diary so I knew where to find my results for tests as some come up on hospital system and some on gp so they need to look on both systems. I also charted my temps, ovulation days any days we DTD and AF dates and flow type which (hopefully not) if you have to go further down the line for investigations you have all this already as some like you to do this for 3 months , that way they can't postpone you for anything as its all in hand Smile

Goodluck on your journey xx

Hopeful - I'm waiting for my first appointment too. I completely understand what you mean about feeling scared, it's all so unknown to me, I don't like not knowing what to expect!
