My oh told me to do this last, as he said I wasn't keeping 'his stuff' (as he called it) inside for long enough... I normally go to toilet straight after dtd. Thought it was worthy try....

I do this well for a few minutes anyway and try not get up for at least an hour. Figured it can't hurt.

I prop a pillow under my bum and read for a while... DH thinks it is hilarious!!

My oh told me to stand on my head last time we Dtd! Clearly I didn't, this was after advice from BIL (who incidentally upduffed my sis on first attempt! Hmm )

It's a myth....I didn't and still got pregnant. I found it much more efficient to get up and pee to prevent UTIs. The good swimmers are well on their way straight away. Legs up encourages the duffers in the right direction but you don't want them getting you pregnant anyway!

it doesn't do anything. I asked our fertility Dr!
she said decent swimmers start swimming and go to where they need to be, anything coming out is just seminal fluid.

that said I still put a pillow under me after, although it hasn't worked yet in 16 cycles!!

I did ,when we were conceiving DDs. Pillow under my back just above the bum and legs up on the wall. No I a if it worked but we were lucky enough that I fell pg first cycle with both.

I did it for 7 months, got fed up with it, barely tried last month, no laying still after dtd or legs in air & that is month I got pg. So no I don't believe it helps at all x

Its a myth. Enough sperm will get to the cervix from where it cannot escape.

Am currently doing the same thing!

Also ordered a softcup, apparently these have a good success rate.

What's a softcup?

Report
CrazyLottie · 08/05/2013 00:33

It's designed for periods, an expandable and reusable "cup" you insert after DTD so it holds sperm close to the cervix. Actually I think I ended up ordering a different brand called the Femmecup. You can get both on Amazon.

On a normal semen analysis, as many as 96% of swimmers will be duds (4% morphology is normal). These are what fall out. The gooduns will swim up.

I figured it couldn't hurt (metaphorically - I'll let you know about physically!). I've read it does work well for some women who are having trouble TTC. As it holds the sperm close to the cervix for a longer amount of time, it gives the stronger swimmers increased odds.
