Does anybody know any stories of larger sized woman getting pregnant?

Im large but not overly so(about 16.5 stone) but my partner is about the same too.We have been trying since I miscarried 2 years ago and had no luck.
I dont really want to go to the doctor as yet as I think all he will say is to lose weight.

Anybody else had experience of being larger and trying to conceive?

I would go to the doctor anyway and say you have been now trying for two years without success. You should be referred to a gynae as there may be a problem preventing conception.

Weight should not be a barrier to you receiving treatment especially if there is an underlying problem. Losing weight for some women, particularly if PCOS is an issue, can be very difficult.

What are your periods like?. If they are irregular the GP should be aware of this. The underlying cause of this needs to be determined (often hormonal problems are to blame).

Please see your doc and don't be fobbed off!.

I was a size 22 when I got pregnant, that said, pregnancy has left me a size 26 :( I'd recommend losing weight and getting fitter before getting pregnant if only because you'll need every ounce of energy when you're looking after your baby and you're bound to put it on more when pregnant.

I was a size 18 when I got pregnant with ds 3 years ago. I am now a size 20 and 25 weeks pregnant with second. Size doesn't matter - don't let doctor fob you off. DH is around 18.5 stone and a diabetic and the doctor isn't unduly worried about his size.

well i was large with ds1 and ery large with ds2 ( they couldnt scan e untill i was 5 months plus as they couldnt see anything!!) and i felt great, the only thing is that it was hard to convice people of my dates as most of the weight was me not the babay.
ive got pcos and was told i was totally infertile, so i dont hold out much for he doctors..but dont feel bullied. if you want help, ask for it and i bet the first thing they say will be "loose weight" which is fair enough, but still, thats not good enough really!
tslk to your dh about what to do next as you will need his support..good luck XX

I was almost exactly that weight when I conceived ds1 and about 15.5 stone with ds2 - neither took long to concieve but I have read in several different places that losing weight improves your health to the point that it may then be easier to concieve. Are you having any fertility treatment?
