How much alcohol should DH drink (or not!)

Thinking of slapping a prohibition order on him next month! He doesn't drink every week but when he does he makes up for it! Slightly annoying when his sober wife (who wishes she was drunk too) has to watch him do it!

What do you think?

Healthy to cut down when TTC, but takes 3 months to take effect on sperm due to production time. How long have you been TTC? I would get too obsessed with it unless its been ages, tbh. You too - unless medically advised or you've been TTC for ages, a little very now and then won't hurt until you confirm you're pg.

I wouldn't get obsessed.

Apologies, OP, I've just noticed what section this is in. Too early on a Sunday, sorry, will ask for it to be removed. Best of luck.

In that case, why don't you agree with DH to abstain completely for next 4 to 6 months, and see if it makes a difference? He needs to be fully on board with that for it to work, obviously. As I understand it, male alcohol intake is more important than female intake when TTC, eggs aren't affected as all made and stored from when female foetus is developing.

Have you been to the docs/ seen a consultant so far? They usually explain this sort of thing and might be easier for you if you DH hears from doctor?

Good luck, hope it happens for you soon.

yeh we've asked the fertility doc. She said no more than 7units for me but was more vague with DH, just said don't drink too much. He has had a few big nights out recently so maybe that hasn't really helped.

As lightrain said, it is thought alcohol has a greater impact on sperm than eggs. Has he been tested yet?

Yes, DHs morphology was only 3%. Fertility doc said >7units could affect CM and hormone levels.

YY to 3 months sperm production time. Any lifestyle changes will only affect his sperm after that time and won't help immediatelly.

well I imagine we'll be in same predicament in 3 months time so he may as well start now lol
