hi all, just a quick query which will hopefully have a resounding answer one way or the other so i can just get it out of my head.
Me and dh are ttc, this month my period started on 1st the first. Tis also first month i started using Persona machine to "assist" with ttc. I was on my period for a little longer than normal, stopped around day 7, on days 10 and 11 i got the egg sign on the persona but also started spotted a little. The spotting continued to increase until i eventually thought it must be a proper period again. Last weekend (days 18 -19) the bleeding finally stopped, although became really really heavy on the last couple of days.
I have made a drs appointment but it isnt until next weds (29th)
What i really want to know from the wise oracle of mumsnet, is if i got pregnant during the middle of this cycle, is there any chance whatsoever that i could still be pregnant after all this odd bleeding??
We did much babydancing around the ovulation time, and even though in my heart i probably know the answer i just wondered what the wise owls think??
Thankyou x x x

hiya pussycat :)

I think it's not an exact science, but basically .. yes it's possible you could still become pregnant even though you've had a bleed, but I think the chances are quite remote.

If you ovulated before this bleed occurred and the egg was fertilised, the embrio would still be in the filopium tube and would not come down until approx 5/7 days after fertilisation. However, if you were still bleeding heavily at the time the embrio came down into the uterus, then it is likely that the embrio would pass with the blood, also, if you were still bleeding then, it's likely that the lining of the uterus would not be in a sufficient state to accomodate a baby and therefore it may not be possible that it would implant.

Bleeding at around the time of ovulation could potentially indicate something like an ovarian syst and therefore I would definitely see your GP.

good luck xx

i had to go last night after id started my post, hope you werent offended, i wasnt ignoring you.
i think you are right, especially as you have all "the science bit" to back it up.
think i knew all this really... deep down. Just that in my heart of hearts, you know what its like, you always think there is a chance of a miricle happening, that it may just be your turn, regardless of the circumstances.
Thankyou anyway honeyx x x x x
