Am I ovulating?

I am on day 16 of a usually 30 day cycle. I haven't been temp charting this month but have a low, soft and open cervix and mucous for the last couple of days but not today.

Ovulation testing since Monday hasn't showed a LH surge yet though. Any ideas?

Hi,

Generally speaking, you are more likely to be ovulating if periods are regular than if they are not. Ovulation though is not an exact science and women can ovulate earlier, later or not at all in any given cycle.

The problem with using opk's is that they work on two misleading principles - namely that a rise in LH is immediately followed by ovulation and that women only have one rise in LH every month. Both of these statements are certainly not true. Although the advertising for same is persuasive they are really best avoided. They're not cheap to use either.

BTW if you were ever needing to have your LH level looked at this should be compared to the other hormone closely involved in the ovulation process which is FSH. Both levels would be measured far earlier in the cycle.
